praxis and the internet

Aspasia and her approach to rhetoric through praxis is one of my favorite Greek sophistic rhetorical theories. The idea that we need theory and practices, in combination, in one word is fantastic. While not a requirement, the set-up implies critical reflection to understand how theory influences practice and how practice influences theory.

The problem is, many internet users consider the choices they make, and the possible influences of those choices but not the theory. Many internet users take pages at face value and don’t consider, question, interrogate. So if I want to critically interrogate the choices made by other internet users, i’m looking at their practices, as a poster I understand the choices afforded to me by the space (through tools typically), and I can discuss and design theory. But is that praxis if I’m not posting, just teaching?
